Students specialized in the Chemistry Minor Program potentially represent a new generation of productive leaders of research and industry. Understanding the physico-chemical properties, performance and applications of materials and biomaterials requires an integrated knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, analysis, and design. The chemistry of materials, in particular, is a most important facet in the sense that it governs one's ablility to rationally design, synthesize and analyze materials, to engineer materials intelligently, and to apply them properly. In this context, the goal of the Chemistry Minor Program is to impart to students an appreciation of physico-chemical properties and reactivites of the materials at the molecular level.
